Course Directors

WAEL ATT, D.D.S., Dr Med Dent Habil, Ph.D, Dr. Att is a professor and chair of the Department of Prosthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is also a professor of prosthodontics at the School of Dentistry, University of Freiburg, Germany. Dr. Att is board-certified prosthodontist from the German Society of Prosthodontics and Biomaterials (DGPro) since 2004 and an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED), International Academy of Digital Dental Medicine, International College of Prosthdontists, Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, and others. He is President of the International Academy for Digital Dental Medicine (IADDM), Past-President of the Prosthodontics Group of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR), and President of the Arabian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (ARAED).
Dr. Att earned his D.D.S. degree in 1997 from Tishreen University and received the Dr. Med. Dent. (2003) and a Ph.D. (2010) degrees--as well as the title of extraordinary professor (2013)-- from the University of Freiburg. He was a visiting assistant professor from 2005-2007 at the Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology at the UCLA School of Dentistry, and the Director of Postgraduate Program in Prosthodontics in Freiburg from 2007-2017. A widely published and internationally respected clinician and lecturer, Dr. Att's main focus within teaching, research and clinical practice is esthetic and implant dentistry as well as the implementation of cutting-edge digital technologies in both reconstructive and multidisciplinary dentistry.

Course Details

Clinical Dental Photography is an essential tool for documenting, showcasing and marketing. It is also a part of digital workflows and treatment planning. The course covers both didactic and hand on aspects to train the clinician to be effective and efficient in capturing digital pictures of patients

 

Lecture:

  • Uses of digital clinical photography
  • Equipment
  • Accessories/tools necessary to aid taking pictures
  • Intraoral protocols
  • Extraoral protocols
  • Video capturing
  • Macrophotography of objects
  • Troubleshooting intra and extraoral picture taking
  • Basic editing and storage

 

Hands on:

 

  • Equipment: Getting to know camera/lens/flash features
  • Use of accessories (mirrors, retractors, separators)
  • Sequence of intraoral protocols for different specialties/applications
  • Sequence of extraoral protocols (headshot photography)
  • Studio lighting from the basics to advance settings
  • Video capturing with continuous lighting
  • Macrophotography of objects

 


Course Objectives
  • Explore the principles of contemporary clinical photography and video recording
  • Learn how high-end case documentation can be performed in a predictable and easy manner
  • Understand different tools for case communication and exchange with colleagues, technicians, and patients

COVID-19 Rules and Regulations

Coronavirus and Health Safety Refund Policy

For the health and safety of our participants and school community, all participants are required to adhere to the most current COVID-19 policies listed on the registration page. If these school policies change, all participants will be notified of the change and the registration page will be updated. If a participant does not adhere to the vaccination/booster requirements or mask policy, they are not eligible for a refund and cannot join the event. If a participant is unable to join the day of due to symptoms or a positive COVID test, they will be eligible for a full refund. If you have any questions, please contact dentalce@tufts.edu.


Refund Policy

Full tuition refund or credit will be given for cancellations received at least two weeks prior to the course start date. Refunds or tuition credit will not be given after that time or to no-shows.


Wait List Policy

If a CE course obtains enough registrations where a wait list is established, the CE office will notify individuals with unpaid registration balances and ask them to pay their balance to secure their place in the course. If payment is not made to secure their place, the CE office has the right to offer that place to a paying individual on the wait list.


Enrollment and Cancellation Policy

The Office of Continuing Education reserves the right to close registration when an enrollment limit is reached and to cancel, modify, or alter content or faculty for any course if circumstances indicate the need for such a change. If the school finds it necessary to cancel a course, a full refund will be granted. All attempts to contact registrants will be made as soon as possible in the event of a course cancellation. The school will not be held responsible for any losses due to travel arrangements made by the registrant.

In the event of inclement weather (such as a snow emergency) or other extenuating circumstances, the Office of Continuing Education may be forced to cancel or postpone a course. If a course has been canceled, we will contact participants by the phone number and/or email address provided. You may call or email our office on the day of the course if you are uncertain of a course's status.
