Racial Healing Workshop

March 24, 2023

12:00-2:00pm CST

Details

Description: The racial healing workshop is designed to be an open and expansive experience with heart, body, and mind. Participants will engage in self-discovery, collective and community healing, and work to challenge racial narratives that have been created since the founding of the United States. They will also examine how racism has been transmitted generationally. The racial healing workshop is designed to create healing through a safe space, connection, and community.

Learning Objectives:

  • Increase one's awareness of identity of self and others, and make connections/create space for healing wounds of trauma, both individually and collectively
  • Increase one's understanding of the history of racism and how its current impact challenges our lives and community
  • Challenge the narrative that silences racism and those disproportionately impacted by racism, as well as the narrative that impacts our own biases, beliefs, and behaviors.
  • Understand how historical, systemic, and trans-generational racism is transmitted by our own beliefs, behaviors, and policies, and societal systems
  • Create operational goals to continue learning and to take action.
