Acadience Reading Essentials

This is a training on the foundations, guidelines, administration
and scoring of the Acadience Reading K-6 assessments.
Participants will be given opportunities to practice administering
the assessments throughout the day using pencil and paper AND
digital scoring.

This is a two day event: September 27, 2023 & September 28, 2023

 

Light breakfast and lunch are included.

Event times: 8:00 AM through 3:00 PM

 


Audience

K-6 educators who will be assessing students using Acadience.

Priority to districts within MAISD. Addl spaces may be opened beyond MAISD.


Cost

Registration is $75.00 for outside of the MAISD/local districts.

 

  • Many events carry a 20% discount for MAISD schools and districts. Some events are entirely free to MAISD schools and districts. See flyer (above) for details. Discount will be confirmed at billing.

 

  • Cancellations BEFORE the registration deadline will be at no cost. Please contact pd@maisd.com prior to the registration deadline if a cancellation is needed.

 

  • Cancellations AFTER the registration deadline will be charged $25. In some cases, late cancellations may be charged up to 100% of the event registration and material costs. After the registration deadline, MAISD orders materials for registered participants.

Presenter(s): Heather Phillips; Miranda Holmberg

Heather Phillips is the Early Childhood Literacy Coordinator at MAISD. She is a passionate educator serving as the MAISD Early Childhood Literacy Coordinator. Her Master’s degree is from Michigan State University in educational leadership, and her B.A. from Grand Valley State University in Psychology/Special Education continues to enhance her mission to serve educators, caregivers, and students with compassion and effective practices. She believes in the power of coaching to transform individuals or groups. Some of her most recent professional learning has been with university researchers and other experts around the literacy essentials, engaging children, and the Historically Responsive Literacy Framework.



Miranda has been working in public education for 28 years. She started with Carson City-Crystal Area Schools as a special education resource room teacher at Crystal Elementary for eight years. She then joined Montcalm Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) in September, 2002. Miranda continues to be employed with MAISD as an MTSS Consultant. Miranda earned both her Bachelors and Master’s degrees from Grand Valley State University. Her current endorsements for special education include: Cognitive Impairments, Emotional Impairments and Learning Disabilities. Miranda completed her certification, through the University of Kansas, as a professional developer for SIM® (Strategic Instruction Model) in May, 2009 for Learning Strategies. She then completed Content Enhancement Routines in January, 2012. Miranda has led several professional development sessions with the MAISD. Miranda is also a certified CHAMPS trainer, Acadience Mentor and Explicit Instruction trainer.
