Pregnancy and childbirth can affect the pelvic floor muscles, which play an important role in controlling the bladder and bowel and sexual function.
This interactive program will teach new and expectant moms concrete tools and specific exercises to stay fit and healthy during pregnancy and after giving birth. You will learn how to avoid or lessen pregnancy-related pain in joints and muscles, safety guidelines for exercise, and ways to retrain and strengthen your pelvic floor muscles.
Time will be allowed to practice techniques. Please come dressed to participate in floor exercises.
This class may be taken anytime during your pregnancy or within two months of giving birth. If you are still experiencing pelvic pain a year after childbirth, we recommend you see a physical therapist specializing in pelvic floor issues at Overlake's Rehabilitation Services. A referral from your primary care provider may be required.
