Computer Science Discoveries is an introductory computer science course for 6 - 10th grade students. Mapped to CTSA standards, the course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as problem-solving, programming, physical computing, user-centered design, and data, while inspiring students as they build their own websites, apps, animations, games, and physical computing systems. This course is also known in Maryland as FOCS. Sessions will be held on Saturdays on 9/25/2021, 10/2/2021, 10/9/2021, 10/16/2021, 10/23/2021, 10/30/2021 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Professional Development: Hours - 30
(CPDs are only earned after you've attended the required number of synchronous meetings and completed the required number of asynchronous assignments.)
For those who do not qualify for the MCCE Scholarship, you will be required to pay to attend this workshop.
Scholarships from the Maryland Center for Computing Education (MCCE) and Code.org will be offered to teachers who meet eligibility requirements. For more information on eligibility, please contact your district lead or inquire at MCCE-MDCodes@learning-stream.com or MCCE-PD@learning-stream.com.
Maryland Center for Computing Education (MCCE) does not provide individual stipends to teachers for its professional development. In some cases CPD credit is available. Please check with your district point of contact for questions around stipend eligibility and availability.
