The purpose of the mentoring program is to provide guidance and support for new teachers. New teachers with less than 5 years of experience and or new to special education or encouraged to join. Our mentorship program offers opportunities for all staff members to grow in a professional, collegial, and nonjudgmental way. It is our goal to promote enhanced student learning, improve professional collaborations, increase academic energy, and offer a secure, friendly, and welcoming environment.
SCECH's will be awarded beginning in November. The total number of SCCECH's earned will be 1 SCECH per meeting.
Heather Burleson, MA
Heather Burleson, MA Heather is an Instructional Consultant for the BRIDGE Team at VBISD. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English at Michigan State University -- GO SPARTANS!! She earned her Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Cross Categorical Special Education at the University of Phoenix. She also earned a Cognitive Impairment Endorsement at Western Michigan University and is currently pursuing a K-12 Admin Certification with a Special Education Supervisor/Director Approval at Grand Valley University. Heather has worked in education for 14 years working as a paraprofessional and special education teacher. She has experience teaching at both the elementary and high school levels at the local level and at the ISD level. Heather has a passion for student and teacher learning related to curriculum, PBIS, classroom management, and personal growth. She is committed to helping teachers create effective programming designed around students' mental, physical, emotional, and academic needs.
