Michigan Model of Health: K - 12

Details

The evidence-based Michigan Model for Health™ has been the curriculum of choice in Michigan schools for teaching K-12 health education since 1984. This training session for any K-12 teacher is part of a hybrid training that includes a self-paced online training module along with a virtual session with multiple live facilitators from across the state. Participants must first complete the online training module prior to the virtual training session.  Upon completion of the online module, teachers will be able to print or save a certificate documenting completion of this component necessary to earn SCECH’s for the combined online and live, virtual training.

Facilitator

Ashley Westerlund, MA, Health and Physical Education, has worked in Muskegon County schools since 2006, initially as a secondary health and physical education teacher. Her current role as the Health Education Consultant for the county focuses on supporting school health initiatives that support the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model. She provides professional development opportunities and technical assistance in topics related to Health Education and wellness, including the Michigan Model for Health curriculum. Ashley completed her undergraduate work at Central Michigan University. She earned her Master of Arts degree in educational leadership at Western Michigan University.


 

 

The live virtual training sessions will be conducted by several Michigan Model for Health™ trainers from across the state.
