CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) Full Flex Training

NOTE: This course includes 2-3 hours online, which must be completed prior to attending the 1-day face-to-face training. Two weeks prior to the training day, you will receive a confirmation email with a link on how to create an account to access your online seat.  You must use the same email to create this account that you used to register through the MAISD's Learning Stream registration system.  Participants will need to print their Learner's Guide and complete this during the online portion and bring this to the training. Participants must register for this course at least two weeks prior to the in-person training to allow time for setting up and completing the online portion

The Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Flex training is an intensive prevention and intervention program that focuses on learning the crisis cycle and how to effectively and safely respond to student behavior at each level. Participants learn verbal and physical de-escalation techniques and how to assess risk. Crisis prevention focuses on providing therapeutic support to students.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing to registrar@muskegonisd.org no later than seven (7) days prior to the start date of the workshop. Phone cancellations are not accepted. 'No shows' will be charged the full registration amount.

Inclement Weather Policy

In case of inclement weather, all events at the MAISD North Building will continue as scheduled unless the MAISD itself is closed. An announcement would be made through local media outlets, as well as the MAISD Facebook and the @MAISD Twitter, if the MAISD were to close due to weather.

In the event of a two-hour delay at the MAISD North Building:

  • Events beginning at 10:00 am or later will continue as scheduled.

  • Full-day events (those lasting at least five hours) scheduled to begin before 10:00 am will begin at 10:15 am.

  • Partial-day events beginning before 10:00 am will be canceled.

Exceptions to this policy will be communicated to participants via email at least 12 hours in advance of expected inclement weather.

Missy Post is an Autism Spectrum Disorder Consultant at the MAISD. Prior to this role, she was a special education teacher at Fruitport Community Schools. Missy has taught at the elementary and secondary level, worked in ASD, SXI, MOCI, co-taught and general education classrooms, along with some work with Early On. She earned both her Bachelor's degree and her M.A., Ed from Central Michigan University. Missy provides coaching support to local district teams and training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, START, and Mindfulness.

Stacie Hopkins-SchrumpfStacie Hopkins-Schrumpf, LMSW, SSW is a Behavior Consultant working with building teams across Muskegon County providing intensive, individualized behavior support for students in special education. She is also a CPI trainer and provides professional development in the areas of Tier 3 Behavior Interventions. Other areas of interest are: PBIS, classroom management, Mindfulness practices in the classroom, and engaging in community organizing to support youth in our county. She was previously a school social worker in the North and Eastern Service Units, as well as a clinical therapist. She received her BA in Psychology from Hope College and her MSW from the University of Michigan.
