WMGLSI is pleased to host an exciting 4-day learning experience for all teachers that will help engage students in hands-on, real world, place-based education opportunities.

Activities include training on NOAA assets, service-learning, curriculum development, and opportunities to explore and learn more about their community, local watersheds and environmental issues.

A primary goal of the Institute is to introduce teachers to varied and effective resources that support inquiry and place-based education with the objective to give them firsthand experience in designing a community-based classroom project.

Participants from Muskegon, Oceana, Newaygo, and North Ottawa counties who choose to continue their participation in WMGLSI through the 2019-2020 school year will be eligible for grant funds to support the implementation of a project in their community.
