Refund Policy

Course refund (minus a $75 administrative fee) is available if a request is made 14 business days prior to the start of the course. To request a refund, please email a written request to: dcgce@augusta.edu . Please allow up to 3-5 business days for processing. A refund will be returned in the original form of payment.


Details
Fulfill the Georgia CE requirements for dental license renewal in both the use of opioids in dental practice as well as ethics and professionalism in dentistry. Medical emergencies in the dental office will also be addressed. An optional BLS Renewal will be offered.

Presenting
Pruett Michael Pruett, DMD
Assistant Professor and Director of Dental Continuing Education at the Dental College of Georgia. He received his DMD from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, then completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the University of Virginia. Upon completion, he became the Director of Dentistry at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. While in Hartford he also served as the Assistant Program Director of the General Practice Residency at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Pruett has placed and restored dental implants for the last 22 years and maintains an active hospital dentistry practice within the College of Dental Medicine. He is also the director of several hands-on continuing dental education courses at Augusta University; which include implant placement, sinus augmentation, and I.V. Sedation. Dr. Pruett lectures nationally and internationally on dental implants. He is a Fellow in the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and a Diplomate in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is also active in many dental organizations including ADA, Georgia Dental Association, Hinman Dental Society, American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Pruett was the 2013 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award for Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine.

Rhoda Sword, DMD

After dental school, Dr. Sword worked in private practice for over 6 years, while teaching part-time at AU Dental College of Georgia (DCG). She transitioned into full-time teaching, which is her passion, in 2008, and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Sciences. She is an active member of organized dentistry in the EDDS/GDA and is a current ADA delegate to the ADA House of delegates. Dr. Sword is also a Fellow of ACD, PFA, ADI, and a long-time member of AGD and ADEA. She is the past president of the AU Alumni Association and DCG alumni association and maintains membership in both. She has taught in many of the pre-clinical courses including Occlusion, Operative, Esthetics, Dental materials, and Dental Ethics, as well as clinical courses including Introduction to Clinical Dentistry and Junior Diagnostic Review and Operative clinics. Dr. Sword's research interests include resin composite bonding, Bleaching cases and techniques, and Curing light research.
