Baptism Preparation Information:

The Cathedral of Christ the King asks that Parents or Godparents who have not completed a baptism preparation class in the last five years attend a class prior to scheduling or participating in  a baptism.   The class reviews important topics including:

• Expectations of Parents/Godparents in bringing a child into membership in the Catholic Church
• History and biblical basis of the Sacrament
• The Rite of Baptism
• The requirements and Role of Godparents
• The scheduling process for baptism at the Cathedral

Our classes are typically offered second Sunday of each month from 1-2:30 pm.  

For Parents seeking to baptize a child at the Cathedral of Christ the King:

• required paperwork will be sent the week prior to the class, and should be returned upon class arrival. 
• If you are members of another parish, You will need to submit a “Letter of Permission” from your pastor which states that you are registered parishioners of that parish and which grants permission for the baptism to occur at Christ the King. (Code of Canon Law: Can. 857 §2).  It is to be submitted when you are scheduling the baptism.

For Parents or Godparents who will be participating in a baptism at another parish, please bring contact information (name, address, email, baptism date if known) to class with you.   We will ask you to complete a form with that information to allow us to communicate to the other parish that you have completed the class (and have our permission to baptize elsewhere if you are the parent).

Class reminder emails will be sent the week prior to the class.
