Supervisory Leadership Certificate Program 2021
Leveraging the best of real-life business experience and Drake University's proprietary methodology, this program is designed to equip emerging leaders/managers with the competencies required to drive success in their team and business. Participants will focus on how they utilize their role to effectively grow teams, empower others, create accountability, and connect the day to day with the overarching business needs. The program will help participants increase their (business) critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities and grow their peer network via experiential learning and collaboration with other participants. Course Objectives: *Understand the basics of leadership, expectations as a manager and key competencies required to successfully transition to a successful leader/manager *Increase ability to connect the day to day work to the larger business needs, goals, vision and competitive landscape *Learn how to enhance communication in order to motivate, manage conflict and create team accountability *Study the key approaches to coaching and delegation to increase the enthusiasm and ambition of your team members, whilst enhancing performance Choose from the Spring OR the Fall Core Course dates and select 3 electives. Grant Writing Workshop
The Drake University Center for Professional Studies is pleased to offer a three day program that brings a wide array of competencies supporting the art of grant writing. Program Focus: • Developing a sustainable grants strategy • Finding and evaluating grant making organizations who want to make an “investment” in your mission • Project design—delivering measurable and sustainable results • Telling the story through effective mission, goals, and objectives • The role of the budget—how budgeting adds value to the proposal • Putting it all together and making a strong case—interpreting the Request for Proposal (RFP), persuasive narrative, organizing/formatting, engaging stakeholder support, etc. • Value of effective grant management Program Designed for the Person Who… • is a member of a grant writing team or project • wants to develop grant writing skills and expand professional and personal opportunities • is currently writing grants and seeks enhanced skills • is currently managing grants Who will be facilitating? Lance Noe, Director of the Drake University Center for Professional Studies teaches grant writing for the Drake University Master of Public Administration program. He also serves as the instructor for the grant writing curriculum offered as part of the nationally accredited Certified Public Manager® program. Lance speaks at regional conferences and professional meetings bringing a message of how to best develop a sustainable grant seeking and grant writing organization. When and Where? The three-day, 15-contact hour program will meet virtually online from 9am to 3pm on September 20th-22nd with an hour break each day for lunch.
